Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
