Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
