Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While wagering on internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
