Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
