Focus on Annie Duke
Annie Duke mightn’t have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she remains one of the most powerful poker competitors around the cash matches at The Bellagio in sin city. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi/lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run crazy following a large win at the tournament, Annie goes back home and becomes "mom" to her 4 kids. Annie was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker competitors. If you do not believe that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to bet on the game.
However, Mrs. Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has won her cut of demanding tables, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They’re both players that have the ability to capture the large $$$$$ and do so with a grin.
Mrs. Duke is a tough player at any table considering that she is a natural poker player, but it’s a bit more than simply being skilled at the game. Annie Duke is incredibly intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she took a double major in Psychology and English.
When you sit across from her at the poker table you will see Annie Duke is there to play the game and she begins "sizing" you up from the time you approach the table. If you can not play like a camp, then do not waste your time.
Winning over $3 million in tournament competitions, Annie branched out to become a adviser to both the UltimateBet poker room and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to hone his skills and become a power at the tables.
You may catch a glimpse of her at the Bellagio, you’ll definitely notice her on the tv and you might even compete against her in an internet poker game, but do not count on a simple win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you will not beat her. However, it’d be fun to say you sat at the at the table with "The Duke".
