Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure game, has grown in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha 8 or better begins like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A round of wagering follows where gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is called the flop. One more sequence of wagering happens. After all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The players will need to make the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where many players get flustered. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must use precisely three cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It is the strongest possible hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in just about every poker game.

The low hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the weakest hand that can be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the higher hand wins the entire pot.

Although it seems complex at the start, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the base subtleties of the game with ease. Since you have people wagering for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at the same time, Omaha hi low provides an amazing array of betting possibilities and because you have numerous players shooting for the high, and several shooting for the low. If you love a game with a lot of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha hi lo.
