Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world might be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
